Kyle Larson’s Car Fails Inspection in Atlanta, Hendrick Motorsports Faces Penalties

During pre-qualifying inspection at EchoPark Speedway Atlanta, the No. 5 Chevrolet of Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports faced serious issues — failing two inspections before finally passing on the third attempt.

The inspection failures resulted in two severe consequences for the team — the car chief is banned from the track for the race weekend and the team lost their right to select their pit stall location.

The qualifying session experienced schedule changes due to bad weather and lightning delays. Larson will start from 36th position — far from his best performance in Atlanta where he reached third position since the track reconfiguration.

This issue emerges shortly after Hendrick Motorsports received sanctions at last week’s NASCAR Xfinity Pocono race, when the No. 17 car driven by Chase Elliott violated technical regulations — resulting in a $40,000 fine, point deductions, and crew chief suspension for three races.
