Sumardji Reveals Why Patrick Kluivert Called Up 32 Players for Indonesia National Team

The Indonesia National Team coaching staff, led by Patrick Kluivert, has officially called up 32 players for the upcoming international window, including 11 standout performers from Liga 1 2024/2025.

Among those called are Ernando Ari, Reza Arya, Nadeo Argawinata, Rizky Ridho, Ricky Kambuaya, Yakob Sayuri, Yance Sayuri, Septian Bagaskara, Ramadhan Sananta, Stefano Lilipaly, and Egy Maulana Vikri.

Coaches intensively monitored Liga 1 clubs

According to team manager Sumardji, the decision followed an intensive scouting process across multiple clubs in Liga 1 2024/2025.

“We have repeatedly monitored matches in several Liga 1 clubs. This monitoring was conducted by the national team coaching staff including coach Patrick Kluivert, coach Denny Landzaat, and coach Alex Pastoor,” said Sumardji.

Squad expanded from 28 to 32 players

Initially, only 28 players were expected to be called. However, after further evaluations and performance analysis, the number was increased to 32.

“The reason for 32 players is because of the coaching team’s monitoring results,” added Sumardji.

This expanded squad opens up greater competition between domestic and overseas-based players, offering local talents a fair chance to fight for a place in the starting XI.
