Kings League Plans US Expansion by 2026

Kings League, the seven-a-side football competition founded by Gerard Piqué, has announced plans to expand into the United States by 2026 — adding to the list of countries where the competition already operates.

Kings League CEO Djamel Agaoua outlined the expansion strategy during a press conference in Paris:

“We feel ready to attack the big animal, which is the US market, starting from the East Coast for operational reasons”

The league, established three years ago, has rapidly expanded with presence in several countries:

  • Italy
  • Germany
  • France
  • Brazil

The competition requires approximately €5-7 million investment for each new market, with the US venture requiring more substantial funding. Kings League successfully raised €60 million from investors last year.

The league’s unique format incorporates special rules focused on entertainment — including “President Penalties” allowing club owners to participate in matches. It also plans to launch a competition in the Middle East and Africa this year through partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund sports division.
