King Argentine aims for Indonesian Triple Crown at upcoming Derby

According to PORDASI reports, King Argentine is now one step closer to making history in Indonesian horse racing — after winning the first two series of the 2025 Triple Crown.

Indonesian Triple Crown consists of three races with different distances:

  • Series I – 1,200 meters (April)
  • Series II – 1,600 meters (May)
  • Indonesia Derby – 2,000 meters (July)

In national horse racing history, only two horses have achieved this prestigious title — Manik Trisula in 2002 and Djohar Manik in 2014.

Ir. H. Munawir, Head of PP PORDASI Racing Commission, emphasizes the difficulty of achieving Triple Crown: > “Let’s be realistic, because horses here aren’t yet strong enough for such distances like those abroad.”

At international level, Triple Crown achievements are also extremely rare — United States has recorded only 13 winners in the last 150 years, while Britain hasn’t had a winner since Nijinsky in 1970.

King Argentine now prepares for the final challenge at Indonesia Derby on July 27 — an opportunity to join the elite ranks of Indonesian Triple Crown winners.
