Kim Sang-sik doesn’t want to burden Vietnam U-23 with championship pressure

Kim Sang-sik — Vietnam U-23 national team coach — emphasizes player development over championship targets ahead of ASEAN Cup U-23 2025.

The tournament scheduled in Jakarta and Bekasi this July places Vietnam in Group B alongside Cambodia and Laos — an opportunity for the team to prove their capabilities.

The Golden Stars Warriors are set to hold their training camp in Vung Tau City — final preparation before departing for Indonesia.

Vietnam enters as favorites after winning the last two editions of this tournament — achievements that make them strong contenders for this season’s title.

“I don’t want to burden young players with championship targets. What’s most important is their development through this tournament,” stated Kim Sang-sik.
