Kevin De Bruyne joins Serie A champions Napoli on free transfer

Serie A champions Napoli have announced the signing of Kevin De Bruyne as a free agent. The Belgian midfielder joins after ending his 10-year spell with Manchester City.

Despite interest from Premier League, Bundesliga, and MLS clubs — including Chicago Fire — De Bruyne chose to continue his career in Italy. His final appearance for City came against Fulham in the Premier League season finale.

Napoli announced the transfer in unique fashion — featuring De Bruyne sitting on a throne wearing a crown. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis also welcomed the signing through social media.

At the Diego Maradona Stadium, De Bruyne will reunite with Belgium national teammate Romelu Lukaku, joining other former Premier League players — Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour. Napoli recently secured the Serie A title last month.

During his City career, De Bruyne delivered six Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy. In tribute, City plans to build De Bruyne’s statue outside the Etihad Stadium.
