Keselowski’s Pit Stop Error at Pocono Leads to Fight Back to 9th

Keselowski’s Pit Stop Error at Pocono Leads to Fight Back to 9th

Brad Keselowski experienced a challenging day at Pocono Raceway — the RFK Racing co-owner made a critical error while leading the race on lap 56.

The fatal mistake occurred when Keselowski entered a closed pit road — a decision that forced him to lose his leading position.

“When we were going down the short chute, the team said pit this time and I had no reason to challenge that,” Keselowski told NASCAR on Prime. “Ultimately, I hold the steering wheel and I’m the one that’s gotta check and I didn’t check the crew chief and the spotter — that’s my fault.”

Though recovering to the top five and even leading again during pit stop cycles, team strategy was disrupted again. Crew chief Jeremy Bullins called for an early pit stop, but Keselowski chose to stay out — just before a yellow flag emerged that worsened the situation.

“We had a great car today,” added Keselowski. “Our Ford Mustang was really good. We got the lead there in the first stage and we felt like we were in control and lost control of the race early with the pit road penalty.”

From 24th position at the final restart, Keselowski managed to improve his position to finish ninth — an achievement that put all RFK Racing cars in the top ten.
