Kenta Nishimoto eliminates Jonatan Christie in Japan Open round of 32

Kenta Nishimoto secured a crucial victory over fourth-seeded Indonesian player — Jonatan Christie in the round of 32 at Japan Open 2025 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

The home country singles player demonstrated dominance by defeating Christie in straight games with scores of 21-13, 21-12.

“Today, I was helped by my opponent’s mistakes, but I managed to capitalize on them and my shots were also good, so I think the result was good,” Nishimoto told BadmintonSpirit.

This victory serves as revenge for the 30-year-old player — following his previous loss to Christie at Indonesia Masters 2025 with scores of 17-21, 21-13, 21-11.
