Keisuke Honda invites Indonesian players to compete in Japanese league

Keisuke Honda, the 2013 Asian Player of the Year winner, has extended an invitation to Indonesian players to develop their careers in Japanese competitions.

The Indonesian national team currently features a dominance of players with overseas careers — including Jay Idzes, Kevin Diks, Emil Audero, and Thom Haye who play in Europe, while Jordi Amat chose to pursue his career in Malaysia.

The Garuda squad recently made history by qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asian zone for the first time — collecting 12 points from 10 matches and finishing fourth in Group C.

The national team’s achievements have become more convincing with impressive results against top Asian teams:

  • Drew 1-1 against Saudi Arabia
  • Played 0-0 against Australia
  • Achieved 2-2 draw against Bahrain
  • Won 2-0 over Saudi Arabia at SUGBK
