Kazakhstan volleyball team withdraws from AVC Nations Cup due to Gulf tensions

The Kazakhstan men’s volleyball team — ranked 60th in the world — has announced their withdrawal from the AVC Nations Cup 2025 scheduled at Isa bin Rashed Hall, Manama, Bahrain.

This decision follows deteriorating security situation in the Gulf region — a consequence of Israel’s attacks on Iran making it impossible for the team to find safe travel routes to Bahrain.

“The Federation has considered alternative route possibilities in a short time, but none of these routes would allow the team to reach Bahrain on time without compromising athletes’ safety,” stated the official announcement from the Kazakhstan Volleyball Federation.

The tournament scheduled for June 17-24, 2025, must now proceed without Kazakhstan’s participation — despite their intensive preparation leading up to the event.
