Kawasaki Frontale Eliminates Al Nassr from Asian Champions League

Sai van Wermeskerken played a key role in Kawasaki Frontale’s shocking 3-2 victory over Al Nassr in the Asian Champions League semifinal, held at Al Inman Bank Stadium.

The Japanese club started strong, taking an early lead with a 10th-minute goal by Tatsuya Ito. Though Sadio Mané equalized for Al Nassr shortly after, Kawasaki regained control with quick strikes from Yuto Ozeki and Akihiro Ienaga. Al Nassr’s late response through Aiman Yahya was not enough to change the outcome.

Van Wermeskerken Impresses on Defense

Van Wermeskerken, who played 70 minutes, delivered a solid performance at right-back, effectively neutralizing Al Nassr’s attacks. The Dutch-Japanese defender noted Cristiano Ronaldo’s visible frustration and disappointment after the final whistle.

Kawasaki’s win marks a monumental moment in their campaign as they advance to the Asian Champions League final, ending Al Nassr’s title hopes.
