Justin Hubner Reveals Touching Story Behind Decision to Play for Indonesia

Justin Hubner, a rising star in the Indonesian national team, has shared an emotional story behind his heartfelt decision to represent Garuda on the international stage. The decision, he says, was deeply influenced by his late friend, Noah Gesser.

Hubner disclosed that he, Noah Gesser, and Ivar Jenner once shared a singular dream: to wear the red and white of Indonesia’s national team.

The tragedy that changed everything

Unfortunately, that dream was shattered for one of them. Noah Gesser, who was just 16 years old at the time and part of Ajax Amsterdam’s youth setup, lost his life in a tragic car accident nearly four years ago. The accident occurred when the car he was in entered the wrong lane.

A promise carried forward

This loss had a profound impact on Justin Hubner, who saw Gesser as not just a teammate, but a brother in the same mission. Now, every time Hubner steps onto the pitch for Indonesia, he carries with him the memory of his friend.

“We had the same goal,” said Hubner, reflecting on their shared aspirations. “Playing for Indonesia was something we talked about all the time.”

Justin Hubner’s revelation adds a deeper emotional layer to his presence in the squad, turning each of his appearances for Indonesia into a tribute to a fallen friend.
