Justin Hoh Falls, Malaysia Loses Hope at Asian Championships

According to New Straits Times, Malaysian men’s singles suffered a major blow after Justin Hoh failed against Jonatan Christie in the round of 16 of the 2025 Asian Championships taking place at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, China.

The Malaysian squad coached by Kenneth Jonassen — former coach of Viktor Axelsen — faced a difficult day as all their singles players were eliminated in the early rounds of the tournament.

“Facing Jonatan will be the real test, Jonatan is a world-class player,” Jonassen stated before the match.

Hoh’s defeat — a former world number one junior player — erased Malaysia’s hopes of repeating their success in the men’s singles sector of the Asian Championships.
