JuniorGP Mourns Death of Young Rider Pau Alsina after Aragon Crash

The world of motorcycle racing is once again in mourning following the tragic passing of Pau Alsina, a talented 17-year-old Spanish rider, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash at MotorLand Aragón.

Alsina, who competed in the FIM JuniorGP Championship with Team Estrella Galicia 0,0, was involved in a serious accident on Saturday during a testing session ahead of the race weekend. According to local media Regió7, the incident occurred when Alsina was thrown from his Honda bike and landed headfirst on the track.

He was immediately treated by the circuit’s medical team before being rushed to a hospital in Zaragoza. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, he passed away on Monday, just two days after the crash.

A passion that started early

Born on January 22, 2008, in Sallent de Llobregat, Alsina began riding motorcycles at the age of three. His early love for racing led him through various categories including motocross, supermoto, the Spanish Moto4 Championship, and the European Talent Cup, before stepping up to the highly competitive JuniorGP series.

At the time of his death, Alsina was ranked 13th in the standings after four rounds of the 2025 season — a strong indicator of his growing potential as one of Spain’s future stars in two-wheel racing.

Heartfelt tributes from his team and community

In an emotional post shared on social media, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Monlau Motul paid tribute to their young rider:

“We regret to announce the passing of Pau Alsina as a result of a serious accident last weekend at MotorLand Aragón. His commitment and his always positive and caring attitude will remain forever in our memories. Rest in peace, Pau. We love you.”

Government bodies and public figures also expressed condolences. The Government of Aragon released an official statement:

“The Government of Aragon expresses its deepest condolences for the death of 17-year-old Catalan rider Pau Alsina. We extend our sympathies to his family, colleagues, and friends.”

Meanwhile, Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“I regret the death of young rider Pau Alsina, one of the great promises of our motorcycling, in a tragic accident. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”

A heartbreaking loss for the racing world

Alsina’s tragic death comes less than a month after the motorcycle racing community also lost Borja Gómez, marking another devastating blow to the sport.

His passing serves as a sobering reminder of the inherent risks faced by young athletes chasing their dreams on the track. Pau Alsina will be remembered not just for his talent and potential, but also for the passion and joy he brought to the sport.
