Judge Orders NASCAR Teams to Submit Confidential Financial Data in Antitrust Case

According to AP News, the legal battle between NASCAR and racing teams continues to intensify — Judge Kenneth D. Bell of the Western District of North Carolina has denied 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports‘ motion to dismiss NASCAR’s countersuit.

NASCAR now demands a decade’s worth of financial data from 12 organizations that signed the 2025 Charter Agreement. The requested documents include:

  • Investments in non-NASCAR Cup motorsports
  • Cross-team investments
  • Documents related to NASCAR charter values
  • Details of costs, revenues, and financial projections
  • Communications about planned boycotts or disruptions of NASCAR events

“I am amazed at the effort going into burning this house down over everybody’s heads. But I’m the fire marshal and I will be here in December if need be,” Judge Bell stated during the hearing.

Adam Ross, attorney for the charter teams, expressed concerns about sensitive information leaking to the public that could harm the racing teams.

Judge Bell ultimately ordered teams to submit basic financial data before June 27, with a “Highly Confidential – Attorneys Eyes Only” designation to protect information confidentiality.
