Jude Bellingham to Undergo Shoulder Surgery After Club World Cup, Set to Miss Start of 2025/26 Season

Madrid, May 2025 – Real Madrid will have to prepare for a significant absence. Star midfielder Jude Bellingham is confirmed to undergo shoulder surgery following the Club World Cup. The news was reported by The Athletic journalist Guillermo Rai on Tuesday (May 20).

Bellingham’s shoulder problems are not new. He has been dealing with the issue for several years—especially since joining Los Blancos. The most notable incident occurred during a match against Rayo Vallecano in 2023, when he suffered a dislocated shoulder. Since then, he has continued playing through pain, unable to schedule surgery due to an unrelenting match calendar.

Now, he will finally get the rest he needs. After the Club World Cup, Bellingham is scheduled to undergo surgery at the same medical clinic where Ferland Mendy and Antonio Rudiger were recently treated. He is expected to be sidelined for up to three months, ruling him out of the start of the 2025/26 season.

While he will still feature in the Club World Cup under manager Xabi Alonso, both Real Madrid and the England national team must prepare to be without their young talisman for several weeks. It’s a major early-season loss—but one that marks an important step in preserving Bellingham’s long-term career at the highest level.
