Jos Verstappen reportedly acts as shadow leader of Red Bull team

Former Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle has shared intriguing insights about leadership dynamics at Red Bull team. According to him, Jos Verstappen has assumed a role similar to team principal since the 2024 Bahrain GP.

This revelation comes after Christian Horner left his position as Red Bull Racing CEO and team principal due to internal disputes and performance decline.

“Since Bahrain last year, I’ve almost considered Jos as the team principal of Red Bull. It’s become a one-driver team, and I think that’s something they’ve got to fix,” Brundle stated.

The situation began when allegations of inappropriate behavior against Horner emerged early last year. Though Horner was cleared of these allegations, Jos Verstappen applied pressure through media channels.

  • Rob Marshall’s departure from the team
  • Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin
  • Declining confidence from Austrian executives
  • Visible internal tensions

This power dynamic shift occurred following Dietrich Mateschitz’s passing, with the Verstappen family holding strong position due to Max Verstappen’s achievements with the team.
