Jorge Martin’s manager confirms rider is free to choose team for 2026 season

According to Motorsport.com, Jorge Martin’s manager Albert Valera has confirmed that the MotoGP world champion is free to sign with any team for the 2026 season — contrary to Aprilia’s claims.

The open conflict emerged after Martin activated a contract clause releasing him from the second year due to his championship position after the first six races. Aprilia considers this clause invalid as Martin missed five of the first six races due to injuries.

“The activation of the clause leaves Jorge free to sign with whoever he wants for 2026,” stated Valera at the Assen circuit paddock.

Honda emerges as one of the teams interested in acquiring the Spanish rider’s services. HRC team manager Alberto Puig even declared:

“All the teams in the paddock would be interested in a rider like Martin. If a team is not interested in Martin, they are idiots.”

Martin continues recovering from injuries sustained in a Qatar GP crash — his only race participation this year. His return to the track will be determined after next week’s medical tests, with possible appearances at either Sachsenring or Brno.
