Jorge Martin’s Contract Tension with Aprilia Reaches Critical Point

According to Motorsport.com, Jorge Martin’s contract situation with Aprilia has reached a critical phase — with the rider’s representative visiting Assen to push stalled negotiations forward.

Albert Valera, Martin’s manager, hopes to resolve the matter before the Spanish rider’s return at Czech GP — though prospects for a quick resolution appear increasingly unlikely.

“It would be very important to have everything clear before Jorge gets back on the bike, so he can focus on riding without external distractions,” stated Valera.

Championship CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta issued a stern warning — Martin won’t be registered for the 2026 season without an agreement between both parties. Meanwhile, Aprilia’s Massimo Rivola maintains their position that Martin’s contract remains valid through 2026.

The proposed solution is implementing a Contract Recognition Board (CRB) system similar to Formula 1 — an independent body that can resolve contract disputes quickly. This system offers:

  • Binding and final decisions
  • Quick review process within 48 hours to 5 days
  • Guaranteed contract detail confidentiality
  • Avoidance of lengthy court proceedings
