Jorge Martin’s contract controversy heats up ahead of Dutch MotoGP

The atmosphere at Aprilia Racing team intensifies ahead of the 10th round of 2025 Dutch MotoGP — concerning Jorge Martin’s attempt to utilize an early exit clause from his contract.

The agreement between Martin and Aprilia should last until 2026, however the reigning MotoGP champion plans to leave earlier — with Honda being the main destination.

The disputed clause states Martin has the right to accept offers from other teams if he’s not in title contention after the first six rounds. Aprilia considers the clause invalid as Martin has only competed once this season due to injuries since preseason.

Martin’s agent, Albert Valera, through his statement to DAZN, reinforces his position:

“I understand if this matter proceeds to court, the clause will be revealed and it will become clear whether the statements within are explicit or not”

Valera even declares his readiness to face contract disputes in court — challenging Aprilia to be transparent about the contract contents.
