Jorge Martin Suffers Serious Crash at Qatar GP, Sustains Multiple Rib Fractures

Jorge Martin suffered a serious accident during the MotoGP Qatar GP — the rider sustained chest trauma and eight fractured ribs.

The incident occurred on lap 10 when the Aprilia rider lost control in a high-speed right-hand corner.

MotoGP medical director Angel Charte confirmed that Martin experienced a high-energy impact outside the track.

“Jorge is conscious and oriented. The radiological examination shows traumatic pneumothorax. We will perform a CT scan to see the extent of the pneumothorax,” Charte explained.

The Spanish rider was making his comeback after missing the first three races of this season. Before the accident, Martin showed promising performance by qualifying 14th, just behind his teammate Marco Bezzecchi.

Aprilia announced that Martin will remain at Hamad General Hospital for several days. Scans revealed eight fractures affecting the posterior costal arches and three additional fractures in the lateral arches, accompanied by minimal pleural swelling.
