Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing has revealed the progress of his recovery from injuries sustained during 2025 MotoGP pre-season testing in Sepang — the defending champion suffered injuries to his right hand and left foot.

After surgery and attempting to return to the bike, Martin experienced a second crash requiring left wrist surgery — this has kept him sidelined at the start of the 2025 season.

“The first two weeks were pretty hard. You have doubts about whether you’ll be the same as before. But I’m starting to see the light now that I can train again. Those weeks without being able to leave the house were killing me,” Martin stated.

“I never thought that an injury could last so long. The Portimao injury only took a month to get back on the bike. But now it’s been six weeks and the return to MotoGP is still far away,” he added.

Lorenzo Savadori is currently replacing Martin — while Aprilia Racing seeks approval for their rider to conduct testing before racing return, however Ducati has stated they will block this request.
