Jorge Martin returns to track with different racing number in Catalunya test

Jorge Martin took a comeback step through private testing at Circuit Catalunya, Barcelona last Thursday. According to Motorsport.com, the reigning MotoGP champion received medical clearance to return to practice with his motorcycle.

The Aprilia Racing rider — who has only appeared in one round out of ten races this season due to injuries since preseason — conducted two days of testing using the production Aprilia RSV4, not the RS-GP prototype machine he usually rides in MotoGP.

An interesting aspect of this test — Martin did not use number 1 which is his right as defending champion, but returned to number 89 that had been with him since his debut until winning the world title last year.
