Jorge Martin parts ways with Aprilia for 2026 MotoGP season

Albert Valera, manager of Jorge Martin, created a stir in the Dutch MotoGP paddock by announcing his rider’s contract status. The statement was delivered just before the qualifying session at Assen Circuit.

“What we can say is that Jorge Martin is free of contract for 2026. For us, it’s quite clear, he has executed the clause in his contract and we are just following that contract,” stated Valera.

Relations with the Noale factory team appear strained — trust issues influenced this decision. Attempts to extend the special clause until October failed to reach agreement, despite the team considering Martin’s ongoing injury recovery status.

Speculation about Martin’s future has emerged — Honda becomes one potential destination for the 2026 season.
