Jorge Martin finally decides to stay with Aprilia until 2026

According to Motorsport.com, Jorge Martin has ended his contractual deadlock with Aprilia — confirming he will remain with the Italian team until 2026.

The intervention of Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta at Assen became the turning point that stopped Martin’s efforts to break free from Aprilia for Honda. Ezpeleta firmly stated that Dorna and IRTA would not register riders still bound by contract disputes.

“We will not accept the registration of any rider who is not legally free or has not reached an agreement with the other party,” Ezpeleta emphasized.

This decision derailed the strategy of Martin and his agent, Albert Valera. The release clause they relied on was deemed invalid by Aprilia due to Martin’s extended injury.

After various negotiation attempts failed — including a contract buyout offer with an extremely high value — the Madrid-born rider finally decided to focus on racing with Aprilia until the end of 2026.

Aprilia, with full support from the Piaggio Group, remained firm in their stance while continuing to convince the world champion with their positive bike development — proven by Marco Bezzecchi’s victory at the British GP.
