Jordi Amat — the 33-year-old Johor Darul Ta’zim defender — received no playing time in Indonesia’s two World Cup 2026 qualification matches, raising speculation about whether his international career is nearing its end.

New Indonesia head coach Patrick Kluivert opted to leave Amat out in both matches against Australia and Bahrain — signaling a clear preference for younger defenders in his squad.

Before the matches, Amat expressed his continued pride in representing Indonesia, writing:

“Proud to wear Indonesia’s colors once again, an honor that comes with great responsibility. We will give everything!”

Despite deploying a three center-back formation, Kluivert consistently overlooked Amat’s experience, reinforcing the idea that the national team is moving in a new direction under his leadership.
