Jordi Alba remains optimistic despite Inter Miami’s Club World Cup exit

Jordi Alba shared his perspective after Inter Miami suffered a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup round of 16 — ending their journey in the competition.

Inter Miami achieved the distinction of being the only MLS team to advance to the knockout phase — finishing second in their group with two draws and a victory over FC Porto.

“We faced three very strong opponents in our group, and honestly we performed better. I’ll say it openly, we were better than all three group opponents,” stated Alba after the match.

The veteran defender emphasized that this tournament provided valuable learning opportunities for the team’s young players — particularly for Inter Miami academy graduates Benjamin Cremaschi and Noah Allen who faced European club competition for the first time.

“With Leo [Messi]’s arrival, many doors have opened for everyone. Plus with Luis Suárez and Busquets joining, we’re trying to help the young players develop and learn for the future,” added Alba.

Coach Javier Mascherano stated that the international level experience will prove beneficial when the team returns to Major League Soccer competition.
