Jonathan David Agrees Free Transfer to Juventus

According to ESPN, Jonathan David has reached an agreement to join Juventus on a free transfer from Lille. The Canadian international striker agreed to financial terms following the Turin team’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Club World Cup.

Juventus has long pursued David — their interest persisted despite management structure changes from Cristiano Giuntoli to the duo of Damien Comolli and Giorgio Chiellini. The 25-year-old striker will soon undergo medical tests in Italy.

David’s arrival puts Dusan Vlahovic’s position at risk, with his Serie A departure looking increasingly certain. Meanwhile, Lille has confirmed David’s replacement by signing France’s all-time top scorer Olivier Giroud — the 38-year-old striker joining from Los Angeles FC on a one-year contract.
