Jonatan Christie Rises to World No. 5 After Sudirman Cup

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) released the Week 19 world ranking update on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) — with two Indonesian men’s singles players making significant progress following the Sudirman Cup 2025.

Jonatan Christie climbed one spot to become world No. 5 with 80,614 points, overtaking Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, who slipped to sixth place.

Christie’s rise is largely credited to his impressive performance during last week’s Sudirman Cup, while Axelsen — the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist — chose not to participate in the tournament.
