Jonatan Christie Eliminated in Indonesia Open 2025 Round Of 16

Jonatan Christie suffered a shock defeat in the Indonesia Open 2025 round of 16. Playing at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, the fifth-seeded Indonesian was beaten by Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.

Although Jonatan secured the first game with a convincing 21-12 win, he couldn’t sustain his momentum. Lee responded aggressively and won the next two games 21-12 and 21-10, turning the match on its head.

The defeat brought an end to Christie’s eight-year unbeaten streak against Lee, dating back to their first encounter at the 2019 French Open, where Jonatan had won six consecutive meetings.

“First, I’m grateful — there are no injuries, nothing serious. My eye was slightly affected, it was quite uncomfortable. But praise God there are no serious issues,” said Jonatan Christie after the match.
