Indonesian men’s singles badminton player, Jonatan Christie, has officially been appointed as team captain for Indonesia in the Sudirman Cup 2025, replacing Fajar Alfian based on votes from fellow athletes.

Joining him in leadership, Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja will serve as vice captain — marking a new leadership experience for the player popularly known as Jojo.

“There’s definitely more responsibility as a captain. I’m excited and happy because this will be a great opportunity to learn and grow,” said Christie in an official statement by PBSI.

The 27-year-old emphasized the importance of this tournament as a learning moment for younger players, while also calling on Indonesian badminton fans for full support.

“To all my teammates, give your best and push beyond your limits — if possible, give 200% of your capacity,” he concluded.
