Joey Logano Leads Ford Domination in NASCAR Atlanta Qualifying

Joey Logano of Team Penske claimed pole position for the NASCAR Cup race in Atlanta — narrowly defeating Josh Berry driving the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford.

Team Penske demonstrated dominance by securing the front two rows of the grid. Berry actually matched Logano’s time, but the pole went to Logano based on his position in owner points.

“We all have the same equipment and Team Penske does a great job building similar cars — with all four of us at the top,” said Logano, who has claimed two victories at the Georgia circuit.

The top five was completed by Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric, and Ryan Preece. Ford dominated by placing eight cars at the top positions — Alex Bowman in ninth became the highest-qualifying non-Ford driver.

The qualifying session was delayed for 30 minutes due to lightning detected within eight miles of the 1.5-mile circuit. Several big names including the entire Trackhouse Racing team were forced to start outside the top 30, while Christopher Bell and Carson Hocevar — winner and runner-up of the previous Atlanta race — could only secure 28th and 30th positions.
