Joan Mir involved in crash with Aldeguer at Dutch MotoGP

Joan Mir of Honda HRC Castrol faced misfortune at the Dutch MotoGP — the Spanish rider was forced to retire after an incident involving Fermin Aldeguer.

The incident occurred when Aldeguer experienced a high side at turn 11 of Assen Circuit — Mir, who was directly behind, couldn’t avoid the Gresini Racing rider’s bike.

“I’m relieved Fermin is okay because he had a hard fall. When you crash like that on the track, the situation becomes very complicated,” Mir stated in the team’s official release.

“I was satisfied with my race start, my lap times were getting closer to the riders ahead and I kept reducing the gap. Unfortunately, I couldn’t avoid the crash,” added the 2020 MotoGP world champion.
