Jimmie Johnson Crashes Out on Lap 112 Of Coca-Cola 600

Jimmie Johnson — a four-time Coca-Cola 600 champion — saw his race come to an early end after a crash on lap 112 of the 400-lap event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Turn 4 Chaos Ends Johnson’s Night

Driving the No. 84 Legacy Motor Club Toyota, Johnson lost control coming out of Turn 4, triggering a three-car incident involving Connor Zilisch and Cole Custer. While Zilisch and Custer managed to continue, the NASCAR Hall of Famer was forced to retire.

“I just made a rookie mistake… the traffic situations are different with this car. My instincts reacted in a way they shouldn’t have. By the time I realized it, it was too late,”

Johnson’s Role as Owner Shows Promise

Although Johnson’s race ended early, there were bright spots for the Legacy Motor Club. His co-owned cars — No. 42 and No. 43 — showed strong pace in the opening stages, offering hope for the team’s overall campaign.

Prior to the Coca-Cola 600, Johnson had a moment in the spotlight when he drove NFL legend Tom Brady in a two-seater car at the Indianapolis 500.

Part-Time Return, Mixed Results

This was Johnson’s second race of the 2025 NASCAR season, following a remarkable third-place finish at Daytona 500. Unfortunately, his night in Charlotte will go down as a 40th-place DNF, unless a post-race disqualification changes the results.
