According to Motorsport.com, Jeremy Clarkson offered a simple solution to make Formula 1 more exciting — avoid circuits where overtaking is difficult.

These comments emerged after an uneventful Japanese GP, where Max Verstappen claimed his first victory of the season. The race recorded only 15 overtakes after the first lap — a significant drop from 48 overtakes last season.

“I’ve had an idea to make F1 racing more consistently exciting. Don’t use tracks where overtaking is difficult,” Clarkson posted on X platform.

Nico Hulkenberg — who struggled during the race — expressed his frustration:

“I spent a lot of the race in traffic and it’s not much fun looking at someone’s rear wing in the DRS.”

Verstappen explained that the circuit’s characteristics with many fast corners make it difficult for cars to follow each other. This issue will be addressed next season with regulation changes — cars will become smaller and lighter with a 100mm width reduction and a 30kg minimum weight decrease.
