Japan Leads 1-0 Against Taiwan in Sudirman Cup 2025 Quarterfinal

According to Bolasport.com, the Japan national badminton team gained a 1-0 lead over Taiwan in the 2025 Sudirman Cup quarterfinals, held at Fenghuang Gymnasium, Xiamen, China.

The mixed doubles pair of Hiroki Midorikawa and Arisa Igarashi — representing Japan — successfully defeated Ye Hong Wei and Hu Ling Fang with scores of 21-18, 21-18.

The match was tightly contested from the start, with the Taiwanese pair leading 5-0 and 14-10 in the first game. Midorikawa, who usually plays with Natsu Saito (currently ranked 9th in the world), was paired with Igarashi, formerly known as Arisa Higashino.

Igarashi is a former partner of Yuta Watanabe, with whom she ended their partnership last year. On the other hand, Hu Ling Fang, who usually partners with Yang Po-Hsuan (ranked 8th in the world), was paired with Ye Hong Wei.
