Japan was forced to share points with Saudi Arabia after a 0-0 draw in their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asian Zone Group C match at Saitama Stadium.

The squad under Hajime Moriyasu dominated possession and controlled the game but struggled to break through the visitors’ disciplined defense. Despite creating several chances, Japan was unable to find the back of the net, leaving them frustrated at the final whistle.

“We controlled the ball and pressed the opponent. The players executed our intended approach well, both tactically and mentally, maintaining focus and preventing counterattacks while creating chances,” Moriyasu told the AFC official website.

Although Japan managed to keep a clean sheet, Moriyasu stressed that dominating play alone is not enough to secure victories. With tougher matches ahead, Japan must improve their finishing ability to ensure they don’t drop crucial points in their pursuit of a World Cup berth.
