Jamie Vardy has expressed his deep disappointment after Leicester City were officially relegated from the Premier League, following a 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool.

The 38-year-old striker, who scored just seven goals in 31 appearances this season, described his performance as a “total embarrassment.” Leicester also suffered a dismal record of nine consecutive home losses without scoring.

“There are no excuses. As players and as a club, we have failed collectively,” Vardy wrote on social media.

“This season has been utterly miserable, and personally, it’s a total embarrassment. I’m sorry to the fans for our poor performances, and I apologize for ending the 2025 season with such a disappointing display.”

Leicester City — the Premier League champions nine years ago — now sit 19th in the table with only 18 points from 33 matches. They are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.
