Jamie Vardy has announced that he will leave Leicester City at the end of the season, concluding an extraordinary 13-year spell at the club, which has now been relegated from the Premier League.

The 38-year-old striker has etched his name in Leicester history, scoring 198 goals in 495 appearances — including a pivotal role in the club’s stunning 2016 Premier League title win.

Leicester City has been my second home and family for the past 13 years. The club, the city, and the people mean so much to me and my family,” Vardy wrote on his social media.

His final season has been a difficult one, with the team currently in 19th place on the table with just 18 points. Vardy’s last match will be against Ipswich Town.

“I may be 38, but I still have the hunger and ambition to achieve more,” added Vardy, affirming he is not retiring yet.

Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha paid tribute:
Jamie is a one-of-a-kind figure — a special player and an even more special person. He will always have a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City.”
