James Vowles extends long-term contract with Williams F1

James Vowles, Williams Formula 1 team principal, has extended his contract with the legendary team — marking a long-term commitment to building the team’s success.

Joining Williams about two years ago after leaving his position as motorsport strategy director at Mercedes, Vowles has brought major changes — the team now sits fifth in the constructors’ championship with 55 points.

Vowles’ significant achievements include restructuring the team’s design operation and securing Carlos Sainz’s signature to partner with Alex Albon for the upcoming season.

“I am delighted to sign a new contract with Atlassian Williams Racing, which has felt like home from the moment I walked through the door,” states Vowles. “This iconic team has already given me incredible memories and we are all united in our ambition to build on our legacy.”

“We are thrilled that James has signed a new contract and committed to completing the mission together,” says Matthew Savage, chairman of Williams Racing and Dorilton Capital. “He has brought experience, energy, and strategic leadership to restore Williams to the top podium.”
