Jamal Musiala suffers severe injury as Bayern Munich loses to PSG

Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury to his left leg during Bayern Munich’s match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup quarter-finals — forcing the talented player to leave the field.

The incident occurred late in the first half when the 22-year-old midfielder engaged in a challenge with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Serge Gnabry replaced Musiala in the second half with the score still 0-0.

PSG eventually won 2-0 despite being reduced to nine men after Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernández received red cards late in the match.

Before the injury, Musiala was performing impressively with three goals in this tournament — just one goal behind top scorers Ángel Di María and Marcos Leonardo. His total goals this season reached 20, including:

  • 12 goals in Bundesliga
  • 3 goals in Champions League
  • 3 goals in Club World Cup

The German national team midfielder is a promising young talent — evidenced by his Germany National Team Player of the Year 2024 title and runner-up position for the 2023 Golden Boy award for young European talent.
