Isack Hadjar still targeting Red Bull seat despite team’s struggles

Isack Hadjar speaks ahead of the British Grand Prix — the young Racing Bulls driver maintains his target for Red Bull promotion, despite the main team facing various technical challenges.

The French-Algerian driver currently holds 11th position in the drivers’ standings — ahead of his teammate Liam Lawson in 15th and Yuki Tsunoda in 17th place.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there, obviously, but the only thing I can tell is that Yuki is very fast,” Hadjar said about Tsunoda’s performance behind the RB21 wheel.

Red Bull has struggled with their machinery this season — a narrow operating window making it difficult even for Max Verstappen to control, unlike his dominance in recent years.

“When I signed the contract with Red Bull four years ago, the goal was to get to Red Bull, so it hasn’t changed,” he confirmed before adding his interest in understanding the car.

Despite outperforming Tsunoda in the standings and being one of the most consistent rookies, Hadjar chooses to remain patient. The 20-year-old driver also acknowledges the significant challenge of competing alongside Verstappen — a phenomenon Helmut Marko calls the “Verstappen effect”.

“Mentally, yes. If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s this. The only thing is, do I have the skills? Mentally, I know I’m strong, so I’m not very worried about that,” he explained.
