Ipswich Town Needs Left-Footed Defender for Next Championship Season

After relegation from the Premier League, Ipswich Town is seeking a left-footed center back for the 2025/26 Championship season — a position that would suit Elkan Baggott.

The club nicknamed The Blues must return to England’s second tier after surviving just one season in the Premier League. Coach Kieran McKenna now faces the task of refreshing the squad and reducing the team’s wage bill.

One significant change is the departure of defender Cameron Burgess to Swansea City — a player who made 18 Premier League appearances last season and represented Australia against Indonesia in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

According to East Anglian Daily Times, the club has prepared a list of eight potential players to fill the vacant left-footed center back position.
