Inter Milan Fails to Capitalize on Chance to Overtake Napoli at Top of Standings

Inter Milan failed to seize the moment in their bid to surpass Napoli at the top of the Serie A standings, ending with a 2-2 draw against Lazio at San Siro Stadium, as reported by Bolasport.com.

Coach Simone Inzaghi‘s squad took the lead twice but failed to hold on to their advantage until full time.

Yann Aurel Bisseck scored the opener late in the first half. However, Pedro Rodriguez equalized for Lazio in the 72nd minute. Denzel Dumfries restored Inter’s lead in the 79th minute, only for Lazio to draw level again shortly after.

Napoli’s draw benefits title hopes

Despite being held to a 0-0 draw against Parma, Napoli managed to retain their position at the top of the Serie A standings. While the result may have seemed underwhelming on the surface, it ultimately worked in their favor as Inter Milan failed to secure a win. With just one match remaining, Napoli now hold a narrow advantage in the title race, keeping their championship hopes alive heading into the final week.

Advantage heading into final week

With just one round of fixtures remaining in the Serie A season, Napoli holds a slight edge in the title race. Their ability to secure at least a draw, combined with Inter Milan’s failure to clinch three points against Lazio, means Napoli controls their own destiny. A win in the final match would secure the championship, placing immense pressure on Inter to hope for a slip-up. The momentum and psychological advantage now rest firmly with Napoli.
