Inter Milan falls to Fluminense in Club World Cup

Christian Chivu suffered his first defeat as Inter Milan’s coach after his team lost 2-0 to Fluminense in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match at Bank of America Stadium.

The Brazilian team that nearly faced relegation last year — now surprisingly defeated the Italian representatives. German Cano opened Fluminense’s lead in the third minute with a close-range header.

After falling behind, Inter Milan got a chance through Federico Dimarco, but his finish was still saved by Fluminense’s goalkeeper. The Brazilian team nearly doubled their lead through Jhon Arias’s shot which was still parried by Yann Sommer.

“Wastes no time!” DAZN Football wrote on their social media after Cano’s early goal.

Fluminense briefly celebrated a second goal through Ignacio’s header, but the referee disallowed it for offside.
