Inter Miami Crushed by Orlando, Messi Urges Unity

Inter Miami suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to fellow Florida side Orlando City at Chase Stadium on Sunday night.

Captain Lionel Messi, whose team has conceded 20 goals since late April, urged his teammates to stay united during this difficult period.

“We must keep going. This is a tough moment, but we need to stick together. When everyone is winning, it’s easy, but in times like this, we must be more united than ever, become a true team, and move forward because we have what it takes,” said Messi.

Head coach Javier Mascherano echoed his captain’s sentiments and took full responsibility for the team’s performance.

“I’m not going to blame the players publicly. That’s not my way. No one steps onto the pitch to play poorly. Every player tries to give their best, with all their strengths and weaknesses,” said Mascherano.

Inter Miami, currently sixth in the Eastern Conference standings of MLS, will face Philadelphia Union this coming weekend.
