According to Bolasport.com, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami suffered a heavy defeat in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, losing 0-2 away to Vancouver Whitecaps.

The home side opened the scoring through a header by Brian White in the 24th minute. Inter Miami struggled to break through Vancouver‘s defense in search of an equalizer.

Their woes deepened when Sebastian Berhalter doubled Vancouver’s lead with a close-range strike in the 85th minute — Inter Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari failed to handle the ball properly.

Although he wore the captain’s armband and tried to push his teammates forward, Lionel Messi appeared less aggressive when pressing opponents — making it even harder for the visitors to create dangerous chances.
