Inter Miami Advances to Round of 16, Set to Face PSG in Club World Cup

Inter Miami has written a new chapter in their history by qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 round of 16 — a result that exceeded the club’s internal expectations.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez played pivotal roles in the 2-2 draw against Palmeiras at Hard Rock Stadium. Goals from Tadeo Allende and Suarez secured the knockout stage ticket for the MLS side.

Before the tournament began, Sergio Busquets expressed doubt:

“It’s clear that we are not at the level to compete at the Club World Cup, but we will try to compete in our group”

Coach Javier Mascherano and the team surpassed their initial target by advancing from a group containing FC Porto, Palmeiras, and Al Ahly. This achievement is particularly special with contributions from young academy players including:

  • Noah Allen
  • Ian Fray
  • Benjamin Cremaschi

A major challenge awaits Inter Miami in the round of 16 — they will face Paris Saint-Germain in a match scheduled before the final at MetLife Stadium on July 13.
