Indra Sjafri speaks about Super League foreign player regulations

PSSI Acting Technical Director Indra Sjafri responds to ILeague’s decision regarding increased foreign player quota in Super League 2025/2026 — a regulation that is merely a suggestion from AFC.

The new regulation allows clubs to register 11 foreign players — different from the previous rule limiting only 8 players. In matches, the number of foreign players allowed to play has also increased from 6 to 8 players.

“I want to know first what the regulations are like because they haven’t been implemented yet,” said Indra Sjafri when met by media crews.

The decision to increase the number of foreign players has sparked controversy — there are concerns it will reduce playing opportunities for local players in Indonesia’s highest football competition.
