Indra Sjafri Returns to PSSI with New Technical Role

Sjafri’s Role Confirmed by Erick Thohir

Indra Sjafri — the former Bali United coach — has officially rejoined PSSI in a technical capacity, as reported by BolaSport.com. PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir confirmed the appointment, stating:

“When I joined PSSI, he was part of the technical committee in PSSI. He remains there now.”

While he no longer holds the title of Technical Director, which he once did, Sjafri continues to contribute strategically to Indonesia’s football development efforts.

Strengthening the U-23 National Team

Sjafri’s role includes close collaboration with the U-23 national team, currently under the leadership of Gerald Vanenburg.

Talent Development Focus

The Padang-born coach is recognized for maintaining an extensive player database of emerging young talents. His insights and regular coordination with Vanenburg ensure a smooth talent identification process — enhancing the squad’s depth and future planning.
